An introductory newsletter such as this one created for EDUC 5131 Technology in Assessment and Instruction is but one form of communication I will employ with my students, satisfying the Learner Centered Proficiency 4 – Communication. With more districts eliminating the use of paper-based communications with students and their families in favor of web-based technologies, I will need to employ a variety of communication vehicles. Online grading systems will allow me to quickly and on-the-spot send emails to parents about their student’s progress or lack there of. Tools such s Remind101, will allow me to send notifications to parents about and students about assignments or additions to my district website. However, accommodations must still be made for those students who do not have access to technology or the Internet at home, so traditional forms of communication such as paper-based newsletters and telephone calls will still need to be employed for a some students.
